Entering the World Wide Web is quite a challenge

October 30th, 2007 by admin
  • Want to own a web-site?
  • Want to sell your products via the Internet?
  • Want to provide your services to online visitors?
  • Want to profit from all the things above?
  • Firstly you are to think over the strategy of your business development. A successful marketing strategy can turn out to be a complete loss of time and money if you are not aware of the basic things if you want to run an online business. Draw a plan of your vision of your future web-site, the payment options, the promotion tactics and budget necessary to cover all these expenses.
Presumably, you have completed drawing a scheme of your online marketing strategy and you are ready to start. What things are to be taken into consideration now? Web-design, of course! As theatre begins with a rack, a professionally constructed web-site starts with your logo. All you have to do it to visit the nearest web site design company in your area or just make a contract with a web development firm that you think is the best one to entrust your future web-site to. Be very attentive and look through testimonials from previous clients. Ecommerce web development might also be a challenge if you pick up a wrong team of developers. Just “google” this or that company for positive or negative reviews and comments. An ideal option is to order a colocated hosting to “place” your web-site and forget about any troubles of sharing your physical server space with other web-sites that may be involved in illegal practices that ultimately may result in a complete ban of your web-site from the world famous Search Engines – the huge search machines that soon will drive relevant traffic to your web-site which in its turn results in your quotes and subscriptions.
Thus you’ve got the idea that there is not enough to create a web-site and gain revenue – you are to “work” over your web-site in order it receives more and more visits. But what can you do if you are not familiar with a Search Engine Optimization and online marketing? There is still a nice way out – search for a company that specializes in professional web-sites promotion and search engine marketing. But don’t get into trap – no one can guarantee that your web-site will occupy TOP5 positions for the high-traffic keywords and key-phrases! Find a golden medium – a SEO company must be reputable and have a large portfolio. Do not be lazy – contact this company’s previous clients and ask them about their experience. Be wise! Do not take every word in all good faith – these guys may be affiliated.
Having considered these things mentioned above you still won’t be one hundred percent sure that you will finally succeed and beat all of your competitors but this way is the only one to start with and ensure you are always on the right track.

    Apply for Google Copernicus Center!

    February 18th, 2007 by admin

Miss Dalloway, do you wanna take a ride?” (c) “Contact” movie

Well, I haven’t laughed so loud for the whole my life as I did yesterday when I stumbled on Google Copernicus Center Job :-)

    In a few words:

Google is interviewing candidates for engineering positions at our lunar hosting and research center, opening late in the spring of 2007. This unique opportunity is available only to highly-qualified individuals who are willing to relocate for an extended period of time, are in top physical condition and are capable of surviving with limited access to such modern conveniences as soy low-fat lattes, The Sopranos and a steady supply of oxygen.

    Google Copernicus Center

Abstract and picture taken from here: http://www.google.com/jobs/lunar_job.html

Well, there is a huge amount of questions to answer for this Google Copernicus Team. Many of them concern our sphere - seo sphere. For example:

    • What happens to PageRank in the proximity of a black hole? Is there distortion that might result in link relevancy reduction or popularity warping? Could this somehow be harnessed to generate more dates for engineers?
    • Does spam go on forever?

Ha-ha-ha!!! :-) Guys, this is really great! You MUST read it and, who knows, may be apply?

Long live Google - the space conqueror! ;-)

Stop playing with Globalwarming awareness2007 and join Google at last! :-)

Say “bye!” to Froogle once and for all!

    February 17th, 2007 by admin

Froogle has always been one of the best shopping centers like Amazon.com or Ebay.com. At the same time it was presented by the “Big Boss” Google and was absolutely FREE for the advertisers. Well, why am I talking about it as if it is out of business or passed away?! No way, dear! :-)

It has turned into Google Base completely! More than a year they have co-existed simultaneously: the first one - allowing simple but “friendly” tags that were necessary to describe you products that had all chances to be seen by search-engine visitors; the second one - allowing for the enthusiasts to “play” with a large number of attributes in order to provide their visitors with a thorough description of the services and goods as well.

Not so long ago I have received a email from Google:

    From: “Google Base Team”
    To: me@me.com
    Date: Wed, 31.01.2007 21:15:55
    Subject: New product upload requirements

    —————-Original text—————-

    Hello,

As you know, we’re always looking for new ways to improve
our product search experience, both for our users and for
content providers. We’ve found that one of the most
effective ways to help users conduct faster and more
effective searches is to describe products with relevant
attributes – ideally those assigned by the people who best
understand their own products, meaning you.

That’s why we’re asking all Froogle merchants to send us
bulk uploads in the Google Base format, with five additional
attributes (along with the basic ones you’ve submitted in
the past). Because we think it’s important to provide a
consistent user experience, we will no longer list items
that don’t meet a minimal number of attributes by the end of
February 2007. Please review the following bulk uploads -
they do not currently meet the minimum attribute
    requirement:

And then are following ALL my feeds :-( So, I have a big amount of work to do till the end of February,2007.

I have often been asked what are the “minimal attributes” that Google Base wants to see. There information about is really not easy to dig up from the Help section. That’s why I just enumerate here the list of minimal attributes that you should use in your feed:

    • brand
    • condition
    • description
    • expiration_date
    • id
    • image_link
    • link
    • price
    • product_type
    • title

Hope that will help you! :-)

    “Nofollow” “present” from Wikipedia.org

    January 24th, 2007 by admin

Gosh! That’s happed so quckly and unexpectedly that many people, who used their informative articles for driving more visitors to their web-sites placing outbound links, stayed shocked.

Eventually this was expected that such an authoritative resource as Wikipedia won’t allow using spam-black-techniques and other “playing with external links”.

The parameter “nofollow” won’t allow PR leaking to the linked web-sites anymore! That’s fair, indeed! All in all, what are we here for? PageRank-hunters? Definitely not!

Here people are discussing this new “feature” from Wikipedia to combat spam… They have even come to compromise ;-) suggesting temporary “nofollow”.
